C.N.A Week At Avalon Valley Rehab

Planning C.N.A week ended up being a success. It took about a month to get every thing put together and in place for this last week. It was a HUGE deal for me to make sure we did something different then what they do every year, which is a BBQ & T-shirt. It was planned that we have a theme dress day/ some sort of treat/ craft/ massage & glitter toe pedicure/ trivia & prizes/ lunchoen.

Thursday: Survival Kit

Cut fabric, glued ribbon, and assorted candy to 67 caning jars. They turned out better than I thought they would!

Friday: BBQ/ Causal Dress Day/ Trivia & Prizes

The DON, and ADON took my spot this day due to me being off work for a wedding. They asked random fun questions over the headsets, who ever was the first person to answer correctly would get a prize. Every staff member was able to participate.

Saturday: Donuts
Sunday: Fruit Plates

Monday: Chocolate/ Thank you Card/ Jersey Dress Day

I hand wrote 67 personal thank you cards to all the C.N.A staff members, which made my wedding gift thank you cards that I wrote last year seem like NOTHING! It took lots of time during my shifts each day, but finished in time to hand them out with the chocolate bar.
It was FUN sporting Joe's high school football jersey for theme day.

Tuesday: Spa, Pamper Day: Glitter Toes, Massages, Hand Wax/ Causal Dress Day

The administrators wife works at a spa, he got us hooked up with pedicures from professionals. The massages were also from a group of professionals. Each C.N.A was to sign up for either/ or! What a Girly Day!

Wednesday: Luncheon/ Surprise Gift

It was a success. With lots of help setting up and prepping, it took 4 Platters of sub-way sandwiches to ease this bunch. The surprise was a t-shirt stating "nursing is a work of heart" which looks like the chocolate bar on the back of the shirt.

Fun stuff, but...I'm glad it's done and over with! :)

Monday Batting

Running Buds

Lili was in town this past week, we met up to walk (of course) and talked about the "Running Buddy" days. My spring semester of 08', my dorm neighbor (Lili) dropped everything to go running with me. "Running Buddy?", I yelled down the hallway of my dorm almost everyday. At first, hanging out was strictly to attend aerobics or go running, I never thought we would be best friends today. With time and many conversations, we got to know each others stories/life. Lili is a unique person who knew exactly what to say and always offered gratitude for dealing with her challenges. She often gave great advice, and had a positive perspective on life. I remember toward the end of the summer, Lili and I went hiking. This was the usual routine where we said what was on our minds. It was mostly about school, since we were full time students. She expressed herself being stuck, wanting to give up on her life long goals of schooling. I remember recycling those words of encouragement that once she spoke to me months prior. Over the course of a few years, we have established a life long friendship. It has always been such a positive experience for me. I'm grateful we decided to go running/walking/aerobics everyday because of the positive goals we set for our lifes. I love her.

This past month I've been reminded of her sweet words as I walk with my other "Running Buddies". The extra hours of sleep I lose in the morning is WORTH every minute because of the wonderful sprits my sister-in-laws bring at 4am in the morning. When my alarm goes off, I've often questioned, WHY in the HECK am I doing this?...when it's all said and done, it's simple, very rewarding and I love them.

Schools Out...Summer Begins!

Coheed & Cambria Concert
I originally wasn't going to attend (didn't appeal to me)
Joe Invited me again last minute...
I said "What the heck, I wanna JAM, Schools OUT!"
That's exactly what Joe and I did.
I didn't know a single word to the songs, but BOY were they AMAZING, better yet THERAPEUTIC!
We had the best spot... No one in front of us for about 10 feet so we could see them perfectly.

SUMMER BEGINS!...we are thrilled, last summer we were committed to our classes! Our first (longer than a week) break since we've been married.

Fun updates

Greg&Ashley after blessing.

Jaxon's Blessing on conference Saturday. We grabbed some grub. Priesthood session with the Grandpas after. Mike's farewell this Sundy! Off to Tampa, Florida.

Bradley made it to state with his sax solo! He is very talented.

New Addition to the family. 55 gallon fresh water fish tank. Joe's newest hobby. 5 scissor tail tetra, 6 albino tetra, 2 glo fish, and our newest addition a Gourami. Getting more next week!

Had to run the tank without fish for at least 3 weeks to ensure ph, nitrate levels are within range. We had to be patient.

Joe managed the tank this last Saturday (monthly cleaning). Changed out the water, dish washed the decor, scrubbed the glass. He put in different decor that we purchased, it looks like a totally different tank. The marbles give it a nice touch.
I enjoy it so much!
